These funds have not only quickened olim’s departure to Israel but they have also given them a great emotional support during tough situations. Compassion gives one strength to fight hardships! The Weisburd spouses left for Israel with your help only a short time ago. It is difficult for elderly people to leave the places where they have lived their entire lives. Still, their living in Ukraine was becoming intolerable. Their children and grandchildren have lived in Karmiel, Israel, for many years. The grandchildren will help these elderly spouses adapt to life in Israel. The picture below was sent by the Weisburd spouses and shows that they are happy in the Promised Land.
Another elderly oleh who has recently left for Israel with your help is Maya Yura. Her daughter with husband and son have lived in Eilat for a long time. Maya is a widow, but, for many years, she had not been able to summon enough courage and leave Ukraine and the grave of her beloved husband. Still, Maya is 61, she has serious health issues and Ukrainian health care services are way too expensive for retirees. Even though the Constitution of Ukraine promises free health care, the reform conducted by the previous government has practically deprived Ukrainian citizens of free treatment.
It is almost unreal to be treated for free in Ukraine, but retirement benefits are such that people simply cannot pay for medical services. Insurance health care services are also not available in Ukraine.
Fearing the worst outcome, forced to survive with only $60 per month and constantly growing prices for food, medications and utilities, Maya has made her choice. She has made up her mind to re-unite with the family of her daughter. The picture that Maya sent from Karmiel proves that she does not regret her choice.
All this has become possible, thanks to kind hearts, a lot of love and generosity.
