The Kargapolovs and Nikityuk-Bravermans have similar stories of life. Both these families have lost their ability to support themselves due to similar reasons: job loss, the collapse of family business, the crisis. Both the families have small children whose parents are not sure what kind of future these children are going to have in Ukraine even if they manage to battle the hardships of everyday life.
It is very hard to imagine a stable quiet life in Ukraine: enterprises are being closed down, the economics is on the verge of a total collapse.
These people want a peaceful life and a good future for their children. They are young and they are sure that they will be able to fulfill their ambitions in Israel. What is more, they are sure that in Israel their children will grow up with full respect for their origin and nation. Unfortunately, in Ukraine, it is hardly possible.
Ilona Demidyuk, a single mother, and the Dolinskiys family had to go through a very hard time, just as all other olim who have no stable source of sustenance.
Another trial awaited them during their preparation for the departure to Israel. It cost these olim much effort to overcome their own obstacles on their way to the homeland.
Ilona’s ex-husband who has not lived with her and their child for many years (and not paid them any alimonies) refused point-blank to give their son his permission for repatriation to Israel. The Dolinskiys family had a similar situation. Tatiana’s ex-husband did not want to permit his daughter Anastasiya’s departure.
In such cases, only court can solve the arguments. Ukrainian courts are famous for corruption and it is impossible to predict their decision, though. Both Ilona and Tatiana had to struggle a lot, but judges, fortunately, resolved the cases in favour of the children. Now the way to Israel is open for both Daniil, 6, and Anastasiya, 17.
