Jewish people in the Ukraine are not protected by the Government from anti-semitic nationalists. Graves, memorials, synagogues and cultural centres have been defaced/desecrated but nobody has been held accountable. Even some comments on Facebook and in newspapers are openly anti-semitic with the writers names added, seemingly unafraid of speaking their mind because they know they will not be prosecuted or punished.

On 11 April “Chas Pik” regional newspaper of Kanev in the region of Cherkassy started anti-semitic propaganda at Easter by printing this outrageous article “May Moskovites howl like wolves, may Kikes squeal like pigs”.

On 20 April a teacher of history and deputy principal of a local school and a representative of Lvov City Council, posted a picture of Adolf Hitler on his birthday on her Facebook, she also quoted from Mein Kampf “He was a great man whatever they say. Nation and Motherland are the only really important doctrines for me and all the true national-socialists. He who wants to live must fight. He who doesn’t want to resist in this world of the endless struggle, has no right to live.” This is a violation of Ukrainian laws and humiliating to the memory of the millions murdered. It is a crime against ethical and moral norms.

Also on 20 April in Odessa (on Hitler’s birthday) on walls of a housing complex someone had sprayed “A world without Kikes. Kill a Jew”.

In Poltava a monument to “The Grieving Mother” was defaced with “Heil Hitler! Death to Kikes”.

Helplessness and powerlessness are the feelings of Jewish people living in Ukraine, then comes fear and finally an eternal question: where and how to seek salvation?

Psalm 121 1-2
“If I raise my eyes to the hills, from where will my help come?
My help comes from ADONAI, the maker of heaven and earth.”
